Cabinet Painting for Ontario and Fontana Kitchens

Cabinet painting is the single highest-impact interior project we do in the Inland Empire, and the kitchens that reach out are usually one of two houses: a 1990s or early-2000s Rialto, Fontana, or Southridge Village build with honey oak that has read dated since roughly 2015, or an Ontario Ranch or Chino Hills kitchen with builder-grade maple or alder that never suited the client. Both refinish beautifully, but prep is different: oak needs its heavy grain filled if the client wants a truly smooth face, and maple needs a stain-blocking primer to keep tannins from bleeding through lighter colors. Our writeup on the best paint for cabinets walks through the coatings we actually use.

Two-tone kitchens dominate the requests we see across Ontario Ranch, Chino Hills, and Sierra Lakes: warm off-white perimeters paired with a saturated island in deep navy, forest green, or a warm charcoal. West End remodels lean into layered earth tones with brushed brass or matte black hardware, which asks the finish to be flatter and harder-wearing than a typical semi-gloss. Our finish schedule is built for a sprayed, hand-leveled result on doors and drawer fronts, with brush-and-roll only where a spray simply cannot go without masking the entire house.

Inland Empire kitchens work hard: hot dry summers, gas ranges, and Santa Ana dust all push grease and film onto cabinet fronts long before the finish itself fails. We degrease with a real cleaner rather than a wipe-down, sand for adhesion, and use a cabinet-grade waterborne alkyd that cures hard enough that a rag with soap does not lift color months later. Cabinet work sequences cleanly with any interior painting already on the scope, and where soffit removal exposed unfinished drywall we can fold in drywall repair so the whole kitchen returns as one finished room.

Cabinet Painting FAQs in Ontario and Fontana

Cabinet pricing in Ontario and Fontana scales with door and drawer count, existing finish, and how much repair the boxes need. Painted-over stock cabinets scope differently from stained maple or oak that needs a full de-grease, sand, and bonding primer. The estimate itemizes prep, primer, topcoat, and any hardware or hinge work.

Cabinet work runs year-round because the finishing happens indoors under controlled conditions. Many homeowners schedule it around the holidays or ahead of a pre-listing refresh. The kitchen is staged for continued use through most of the project so daily life keeps moving.

Every door and drawer front is removed, labeled, degreased, and sanded to a clean scuff. Boxes are masked in place, hinges and hardware are pulled, and grain-filler is applied where the substrate requires it. A bonding primer goes on before the factory-grade topcoat is sprayed.

Most Ontario and Fontana cabinet projects wrap in about a week from prep to final coat because the sprayed finish needs proper cure time between coats. Larger kitchens with island runs or built-ins may add a day. The schedule is mapped at the estimate so the kitchen is usable as soon as possible.

A hardened waterborne alkyd or catalyzed acrylic is standard on Ontario and Fontana cabinets because it cures hard, flows smooth, and holds up to daily kitchen use. Sheen is dialed to the look you want, satin is the most common. Every cabinet scope is backed by our 3-year transferable warranty.

Yes. Builder-grade Ontario Ranch and Chino Hills kitchens are one of our most common cabinet scopes because a sprayed factory-grade repaint pairs with a [countertop and hardware refresh](/ontario-fontana/interior-painting) for a full kitchen update. Color is confirmed on a sample door before final commitment. The scope is warrantied at 3 years.

Yes. Older stained cabinets across the West End, Downtown Fontana, and Rialto often need grain-filler, a bonding primer, and multiple topcoats to read smooth. We spray the doors off-site in a controlled environment for a factory-grade finish. The finished scope carries a 3-year transferable warranty.
