Randolph Metrocom drywall cracks are almost always one of two things: seasonal-humidity and freeze-thaw movement in older Universal City and Converse mid-century ranches with plaster over lath, or Blackland-adjacent clay-soil settlement in newer Schertz, Cibolo, and Garden Ridge tract builds. Clay soil expands and contracts between wet and dry seasons, and that movement opens hairline cracks along stress points every summer. Water-stained drywall from roof and gutter runoff is scoped separately so the source is addressed before any patch goes in.
Texture matching is where a repair either disappears or telegraphs. Most north-Bexar homes wear a light knockdown or lightly-textured finish, and knockdown match takes a practiced hand and the right hopper. Plaster walls in older Universal City and Converse homes need a plaster patch technique rather than drywall mud. Where the wall has been over-worked or a large patch is going in, a skim coat is used before topcoat so the transition reads flat under raking light.
Drywall work is almost always done just ahead of an interior repaint because paint over a fresh patch requires spot primer to keep flashing from showing under the topcoat. Water-stained drywall from a roof leak needs the source addressed first, then the stained area is cut, replaced, and skim-coated back into the wall with stain-blocking primer.
